What this site is

athensmetro.org is an independent guide to the Athens Metro.

It is not a STASY, Attiko Metro or OASA website and has no connection to them: we do not sell tickets or cards, and we cannot handle complaints or refunds. Those go to the operator.

We put the page for every line and every station, tickets and the Ath.ena card, operating hours, the map and a route planner in one place, so they can be read on a phone while standing on the platform. The site is paid for by advertising.

What the October 2026 review corrected

On 18 October 2026 we rewrote the thinnest pages and checked the operating data against what the operator publishes.

Map. The map page was little more than the image. It now explains how to read the map, the three lines and their stations, the five interchange stations and which lines meet at each, the airport and the port, and what the map does not show (tram, suburban rail, Line 4 under construction).

Saturdays. The 24-hour Saturday service runs on Lines 2 and 3, not on Line 1, while its fleet is being replaced. The line page and its FAQ now say so, instead of implying it applies to the whole network.

Lines. The three line pages gained their real interchange stations, end-to-end journey times (40, 33 and 62 minutes) and what is specific to each.

Route planner. Added what to look for on the platform — trains are signed by terminus, not by direction — and that the airport fare is separate.

What is live and what is not

Nothing on this site is real time. We do not show arrivals, delays or line status. For disruptions and live information, check STASY and OASA directly or their app.

We say it plainly because it is the commonest misunderstanding: the hours and frequencies here are the published timetable, not what the line is doing today.

Where each fact comes from

Lines, stations and hours: STASY and OASA announcements.

Tickets, fares and the Ath.ena card: OASA and the official card system. The standard 1,20 € ticket is valid for 90 minutes; the airport ticket (9 €) is separate.

Around the station: written by us and checked against a map.

What we cannot confirm, we do not publish. We would rather give you a page with fewer facts that are right than a full one of probablys.

When we get it wrong

We correct it and we say what we corrected — this page is the example. If something here does not match the operator, write to [email protected] and we will look at it.

Editorial lead · responsible for what the site publishes
This site is run by GoRandom, a small team from the Basque Country in Spain. We do two things that fit together better than they sound: we travel, and we build websites. We have not been to Athens yet. We would rather say so than pretend: nothing here comes from our own memories. It comes from what STASY and OASA publish, and from checking work we can show you — this page is the example. The other half of what we do is web development, and this site is where the two meet. We do not leave it to rot: every fare and every timetable carries its source and the date it was checked, and it is updated when the operator changes something.
