How to get to Monastiraki & Plaka by metro
Overview
Monastiraki is the liveliest square of the old town, with its famous flea market, mezze tavernas and a view of the Acropolis. Right beside it stretches Plaka, the picturesque neighbourhood below the rock, with neoclassical houses and cobbled lanes.

Take Line 1 (green) or Line 3 (blue) and get off at Monastiraki. The station opens straight onto the square; Plaka begins just a few steps away.

💡 The flea market peaks on Sunday mornings. Inside the station you can see archaeological finds and the bed of the Eridanos river, uncovered during construction.
